Meet Your Accountability Coach: Dr Katie Turianytsia

I’d like to share a bit about my own background. I come from a family of doctors and surgeons, so health and medicine have always been an integral part of my life. In fact, my journey in the health sector started in dentistry. I loved my job, but I began to realize that often the most significant impact I could make on my patients’ health was not through dental procedures, but rather through conversations about food and nutrition.

As I engaged more with my dental clients about their diet, the transformations I witnessed were truly remarkable. Not only did their oral health improve significantly, but they also began to lose weight, their skin improved, and overall, they looked happier and more confident. What was even more astounding was that they needed fewer dental appointments.

This revelation led me to make a pivotal decision in my career. I decided to become a nutritionist, focusing on the profound impact that food and nutrition have on our overall health. Now, I get to share my passion for healthy food and cooking with my clients, assisting them directly with their weight loss and health goals. It brings me immense satisfaction to help my clients transform their lives by simply changing their approach to food and nutrition. Through this program, I hope to empower even more people to take control of their health, one meal at a time.

Why Accountability Coaching Works

Navigating the journey to successful weight loss can be a daunting task, especially when doing it alone. This is where accountability coaching steps in as a game-changer. In the vast, often confusing world of diet and fitness, an accountability coach serves as a steadfast ally and a guiding light, providing the structure, support, and motivation you need to achieve your goals. With their expertise, they can craft a personalized, sustainable plan that aligns with your lifestyle and aspirations. Yet, their role extends beyond crafting meal plans and workout routines. They are there to help you foster a healthier relationship with food and exercise, shifting the focus from short-term dieting to long-term behavioral changes. The real power of accountability coaching lies in its emphasis on responsibility and commitment. Your coach not only motivates you to stay on track but also helps you cultivate a sense of ownership over your own progress. This, in turn, fosters self-confidence and self-efficacy, key elements that empower you to maintain your weight loss in the long run. The process may not always be easy, but with an accountability coach by your side, it becomes a fulfilling, transformative journey towards better health and self-love.

How The Program Works

Temporary Solutions & Quick Fixes Don't Work

We understand how much you crave change. We know that the discomfort of not being at your ideal weight can be deeply painful, and it’s natural to think that radical, sweeping changes will whisk away that pain and bring you the results you desire. It’s an enticing thought – the more extreme the action, the more dramatic the weight loss, right? Yet, that’s not how lasting change works. Extreme measures often yield temporary results, leading to a disheartening rebound effect where the weight just piles back on – and often, it brings along a few extra pounds. At our weight loss coaching program, we are committed to ending that painful cycle for good. We are here to guide you on a journey towards sustainable, healthy weight loss, one that reshapes not just your body, but also your relationship with food and exercise. Your transformation awaits, and it begins with understanding that true change is gradual, compassionate and enduring.

Slimming Clubs Measure The Wrong Things

Slimming clubs have gained popularity with the promise of quick results and a supportive community. However, they often foster an unhealthy dependency rather than providing long-term solutions. Their emphasis on weekly weight loss can lead to social pressure to engage in extreme dieting methods, risking both physical and mental health. Furthermore, the clubs’ focus on calorie counting overlooks the importance of nutrient-dense, healthful foods. The result is a regime that often prioritizes a lower number on the scale over a sustainable, balanced lifestyle.

Diets Are Short Term Fixes

The concept of dieting is inherently flawed, as they’re traditionally viewed as temporary, short-term measures. This very approach defies the principles of long-lasting change. While it’s true that diets can yield immediate weight loss results, they typically involve restrictive eating patterns that are difficult and unhealthy to maintain in the long run. The biggest problem lies in the aftermath of these diets – without real, sustainable habits in place, individuals often revert to old patterns and regain the weight, sometimes even exceeding their initial weight. Thus, the ‘success’ of a diet can be illusory, fleeting, and ultimately self-defeating.

Pills Are A Short-Cut

Relying on pills, whether they are over-the-counter fitness supplements or prescribed weight loss medications, is often a misguided attempt to bypass the need for self-discipline and positive lifestyle changes. It’s crucial to understand that these pills aren’t magic bullets; they may assist in weight loss in the short-term, but without proper diet and exercise, the results are often unsustainable. Moreover, creating a dependency on these pills can lead to a variety of health issues, not to mention the fact that once you stop taking them, weight gain is a likely outcome. Instead of resorting to these shortcuts, it’s important to focus on cultivating healthy habits and consistent routines that contribute to lasting weight loss and overall wellness.

Workout Plans Just Burn Calories

Workout plans focused solely on weight loss often stress high-intensity cardio and calorie burning, while encouraging restrictive eating. This approach can deplete your body of muscle mass and water, not just body fat, leading to fatigue and slower metabolism. Such a narrow focus can promote overtraining and undernourishment, harming both your fitness goals and overall health. Truly effective weight loss needs a balanced mix of strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular training, complemented by a nutritious diet that fuels your body adequately. It’s not just about burning calories, but about achieving sustainable overall well-being.

Juicing Isn't the answer

While juicing might lead to short-term weight loss due to the severe calorie deficit it causes, it’s not a sustainable solution. The weight is likely to return once you resume your regular diet. Also, juicing lacks the essential nutrients provided by whole foods, and the absence of fibre can lead to hunger and digestive issues. Lasting weight loss requires a sustainable, balanced diet, not drastic, temporary measures like juicing. Remember, it’s not just about losing weight; it’s about maintaining your achievements over the long term.

Will Power Doesn't Work for long

Relying solely on willpower for weight loss implies battling against oneself, pushing to do something undesirable. This is unsustainable in the long term as enthusiasm and energy are bound to wane. Discipline is crucial, but it should be rooted in understanding the fundamental principles of healthy living and cultivating habits that are sustainable and enjoyable, rather than forcing yourself into actions that can’t be maintained. Achieving weight loss is not merely about enduring discomfort but more about adopting a healthier lifestyle you’re content with.

What Diet Culture Won't Tell You: Not all weight-loss is equal

On our journey towards a healthier body, we are often led astray by the misleading narratives of weight loss culture. They would have you believe that all weight loss is equal, urging you to embrace restrictive eating and guzzle down milkshakes and protein bars. Their business model thrives on perpetuating your problem rather than solving it.

Consider this – would you prefer to lose 10kg or 5kg? The answer may seem obvious until you learn that the 10kg loss comprises both fat and muscle. A loss in muscle mass detrimentally impacts your body composition, increasing your body fat percentage and slowing down your metabolism. Suddenly, your celebrated weight loss leaves you with fewer calories burned at rest and a body composition that is far from ideal. Weight is an arbitrary measure; what truly matters is how you feel about yourself in your clothes, in the mirror, and most importantly, inside your own skin.

The key to a healthier body lies not in losing weight but in improving body composition. And the good news is, it can be achieved without resorting to starvation. Fat loss coupled with muscle gain will not only enhance your appearance but also boost your overall health and well-being. Weight loss, in this case, is merely a side effect, not a primary goal.

Conventional weight loss methods promote a simple equation – eat less, move more. But what happens when the rate of weight loss slows down? Does one eat even less, move more, and risk burnout? The restrictive, unsatisfying nature of such a routine often leads to a “bounce-back” effect, where one regains more weight than was originally lost.

In a state of dejection, you may find yourself stuck in a vicious cycle. You might try aggressive dieting, contemplate diet pills, detoxes, fasting, or even surgery, while all along you’ve been chasing the wrong goal.

If your goals revolve around the scale, your only options during a plateau are to cut calories or increase cardio, both of which are recipes for exhaustion and dissatisfaction. Moreover, if you lose weight following a restrictive diet, you’re likely to rebound and find yourself trapped in the same old cycle of weight gain and loss.

The solution lies in a different approach. Instead of focusing on indiscriminate weight loss, concentrate on preserving your muscle mass with strength training. Target body fat with short, high-intensity workouts. Cultivate a lifestyle that naturally burns more fat than it accumulates, and fuel your body adequately to support your exercise regimen.

The testimonials of my online clients, men and women alike, stand testament to the effectiveness of this approach. They’re currently experiencing the life-changing power of recomposition, successfully transforming their bodies without falling prey to the harmful cycle of traditional diet culture.

Remember, true health and satisfaction aren’t found on a scale, but in a lifestyle that respects and nourishes your body, inside and out.

Laura

Claire

Feared The Hunger From Exercise Due To Low Calories
Frustrated After Years Of following the latest weight-loss fads
Struggled To Prioratise Herself as a busy parent

Meet Laura, a spirited young woman in her late twenties, in the nascent stages of a bustling career. Laura has always had an affinity for fitness, enjoying a variety of exercise routines and outdoor activities. However, the onset of the pandemic, coupled with a shift in her work-life balance, has resulted in an unintended weight gain. In an attempt to combat this, Laura drastically reduced her caloric intake. Paradoxically, she became less active, fearing the overpowering hunger pangs that would follow exercise due to her restrictive diet.

When Laura enrolled in our weight loss program, it became clear that her current approach was not only unsustainable but was also thwarting her weight loss efforts. Our solution was to gently increase her daily caloric intake by over 600 calories. This might sound counterintuitive when trying to lose weight, but this change allowed Laura to reclaim her energy and enthusiasm for physical activity.

Freed from the debilitating fear of hunger, she was able to rekindle her love for her favorite fitness classes and weekend runs. The remarkable part? Laura’s weight trended downwards consistently, despite her increased calorie consumption. This approach underlined the fact that weight loss doesn’t necessarily require severe food deprivation; instead, it’s about finding the right balance and listening to your body’s needs. Now, Laura is on a sustainable path to achieving her weight loss goal, backed by an eating and exercise plan that enhances rather than compromises her well-being

Consider the story of Paul, a dedicated professional who has wrestled with emotional eating and stress for a good part of his adult life. Paul’s relationship with food was complex, using it as a means of coping with stress, leading to cyclical weight gain, often accumulating an extra 20-30 unwanted pounds.

When the discomfort and dissatisfaction of feeling overweight reached a peak, Paul would typically respond with a surge of determination. He would adopt a vigorous weight loss strategy, but his aggressive approach often led to burnout. This left him feeling defeated, leading to a pause in his diet and a period of overeating, fueled by a sense of loss and frustration.

After the dust settled, Paul would typically bury the issue, immersing himself in work or other distractions. The cycle of weight gain would then resume, only to be confronted aggressively once again when the accumulated weight became too distressing to ignore. This pattern was Paul’s reality for many years.

When Paul joined our weight loss program, we recognized the destructive cycle he was trapped in. Our program worked with Paul to implement a more sustainable, balanced approach to his health and well-being. Our approach focused not only on nourishing his body but also on supporting his mental health and emotional well-being. By incorporating stress management techniques, mindfulness, and a gentle introduction to regular exercise, we sought to break his cycle of emotional eating and drastic dieting.

Under our program, Paul learnt to recognize and manage his stress triggers, slowly but surely breaking the cycle of emotional eating. His approach to weight loss is no longer a knee-jerk reaction to discomfort but a steady, sustainable journey towards better health. The result? Paul has steadily been losing weight, but more importantly, he’s been doing it in a way that is healthy, sustainable, and respectful to his overall well-being.

Meet Claire, a dedicated mother of two, juggling a full-time job and household duties. Life as a busy parent has led to her prioritizing her family and work over her own health. With a lack of time for regular meal planning or exercise, she’s seen a steady weight gain over the past few years, leaving her feeling lethargic and self-conscious.

Her days are spent in a whirlwind of school runs, work meetings, and preparing meals for the family. It seemed impossible for her to find a balance between her responsibilities and her own health. Furthermore, the information overload about diet and exercise made it even harder for her to decide what route to take.

Claire decided to sign up for our weight loss coaching program. She knew she needed help, not just with her diet, but also with a holistic approach to healthy living. The program helped her restructure her day to include short, manageable workouts tailored to her fitness level, and also provided her with nutritious, simple meal plans that fit her hectic schedule.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed, Claire started feeling empowered. She noticed an improvement in her energy levels, her mood, and her physical appearance. The program gave her the tools and support she needed to commit to a healthy lifestyle change, allowing her to take control of her weight while still fulfilling her duties as a parent and a professional.

Today, Claire is more confident, healthier, and happier than she’s ever been. She’s not just a client who has lost weight, but a woman who’s regained control of her life and found a sustainable approach to health and fitness.

Frequently Asked Questions

While exercise is an essential part of the weight loss journey, this program focuses primarily on nutrition coaching. Drawing from my extensive experience in personal training with a key emphasis on weight loss, I’ve developed a methodology that approaches weight loss from a dietary perspective. This is more than just a service – it’s an immersive nutrition accountability program, designed to unravel the complexities of weight loss for individuals who have a history of dieting.

Yes, you do. The program is engineered towards fostering genuine, long-term habit change. Thus, it is crucial that you follow the provided methodology, as it is designed with your long-term health interests in mind.

If you’ve been under-eating, you’re likely to feel an upswing in your energy levels within just 48 hours. As for weight loss, you can typically expect to see initial changes within the first two weeks. However, please remember that the emphasis of this program is on sustainable, long-term transformation, rather than quick fixes.

The goal of this program is not only to help you lose weight but also to equip you with the knowledge and habits to maintain a healthy weight. After completing the program, many clients feel confident to continue on their own. However, for those who appreciate the continued support and accountability, I offer a monthly accountability program at a rate of £100 per month.

In your initial consultation, we’ll discuss what would work best for you: a full meal plan, a macronutrient profile, or perhaps a food diary review with suggested optimisations. There’s no one-size-fits-all here, and it’s quite common for clients to transition between these options over the course of their program.

The program is designed to fit seamlessly into your life, not disrupt it. While it’s important to dedicate some time for meal prep and exercise, we aim to make these activities as efficient as possible. Remember, we’re building habits for a lifetime, not just for a short-term program.

This program is designed as a weight loss coaching accountability program. While it may help challenge some limiting beliefs and foster healthier habits, it is not a replacement for the professional assistance of a registered dietitian or clinical/behavioural therapist. If you’re dealing with medical concerns or disordered eating, I encourage you to seek the appropriate professional help.

While weight loss is a key marker, it’s not the only one we pay attention to. We’ll also be monitoring changes in your energy levels, sleep quality, mood, and overall well-being. Most importantly, we’ll celebrate the sustainable habit changes you’re making along the way, as these are what truly count in the long run.
