Let's make life fit better

- How Can We Help?

What We Do

The Problem We're Solving:

Designing effective workouts is easy; it’s helping you make lasting lifestyle changes that’s hard. We focus on breaking the ‘all-or-nothing’ cycle, guiding you not just to achieve results but to maintain them.

Why Choose Us:

We meet you where you are, not where we are. We get that you may seek our help during a tough time, and our goal is to be the positive change you’re looking for—offering results and resilience in a single package.

- 6 Major Tenets

Our Core Beliefs

In a world obsessed with quick fixes, we focus on what truly matters for long-term health and happiness, and success.

Results that Last: The only results that count are the ones you can maintain. This means no dieting and no shortcuts, ever.

Work-Life Balance: Your workload shouldn’t compromise your health. our ‘Healthy Ambition’ methodology shows you how to aggressively pursue your goals, without succumbing to burnout and fatigue

The Power of Basics: 80% of your success comes from consistently practicing the fundamentals. You must make health habits as natural as brushing your teeth in the morning.

Holistic Health: You could have the best workout program in the world, but if you aren’t managing your stress, sleep, and eating habits well, your potential is compromised.

Control What You Can: Life is unpredictable; aim for net positive days, not perfect ones.

Age Is Just a Number: The real barrier isn’t your age; it’s your lifestyle. Just look at our results.

No Magic Bullet: While we deliver world-class workout programs, they’re not a panacea. Consistent implementation is key. The biggest roadblock we see is the start-and-stop, “all-or-nothing” mindset. Allow us to be the accountability you need and put stalled attempts behind you for good.

- Origin Story

How It Started

ScottLaidler.com began as and remains at it’s core a comprehensive coaching service delivered online to allow busy professionals to achieve their health & fitness goals, no matter the circumstance.

When the service started in 2015, I was already some years into my career as an in-person personal trainer, these were my ‘Celebrity personal trainer’ years, a period in which I had a substantial clientele whom I worked with in my boutique health club in Central London, an in-person career which ultimately culminated in being hired on big budget film productions to help get cast members in shape for their roles.

Back then whilst there were some notable online fitness solutions operating at scale, that continue to thrive, this website, scottlaidler.com was one of the first comprehensive one on one fitness coaching services available online.

In the early days my online clients tended to be those in very remote situations, who took to the internet to seek expert coaching, scenarios included off shore oil rigs, remote farmers, game keeps living in the bush, ranch operators and a whole bunch of overseas military personel and all sorts of weird and wonderful scenarios that helped me hone my online coaching skills and transfer what I was able to achieve in person to the online world.

How it's going

Since 2015, the fitness industry has grown exponentially and so has the appetite for online coaching and fitness programs. I’ve now worked with thousands of people in over 30 countries, helping them not just achieve their health & fitness goals but help them to establish a permanent healthy lifestyle that can be maintained year round. Whilst I do get the odd interesting challenge of a client in such a remote situation that online coaching is their only feasible option, for the most part, I help busy professionals like entrepreneurs, Ceo’s, Doctors, nurses, first responders, lawyers, musicians, actors, you name it, I’ve probably worked with them. The difference now is that online fitness coaching is far more mainstream and my clients no longer pick me due to logistical constraints, they choose this service because they want to work with a coach they resonate with.

Whilst I operate a bespoke coaching system, the commonality that runs through us all, is that we all only have so much time and energy, I help my busy clients save time by removing guesswork and regain energy with my non-restrictive approach to fitness.

8 years later, amongst a sea of health & fitness influencers and apps, my service has preserved a place as one of the truly bespoke coaching services on the market and continues to be included in conversations as to best in class.

My service continues to advance methodology, techniques and strategy because in running this business, I have found that I share more in common with my clients than my contemporaries, in 2015 you’d have found me on the gym floor from 6am to 10pm and sure those were long days, but they were’nt stressful, they were fun, and I was always in the gym. It was easier to stay in shape then because fitness was what my whole life revolved around, today I run a coaching and education business and my working day is naturally a lot less active, there is also more responsibility which unchecked would lead to greater stress, therefore time and space for training, eating well and positive lifestyle measures are hard fought for.

Essentially I for the first ten years of my career, I was one of them and now my lifestyle choices dictate that I am far more one of you which i think gives me invaluable insight into the constraints and stresses on busy people, and how to overcome them.

- My Story | Get to know your coach

Lessons Learned From a Life In Health & Fitness

Everyone’s journey in health and fitness is unique. Often, when you look at personal trainers like me, you see the ‘finished product,’ so to speak. While I’m proud of what I’ve achieved with my physique, I want you to know that it hasn’t been a smooth ride. My hope is that sharing the ups and downs of my journey will deepen our working relationship should you choose to train with me. After all, wouldn’t you trust a business coach more if they showed you the hurdles they overcame to succeed? If you’re considering me as your online personal trainer, I hope my story will add context and encouragement to your own.

From Screen To Reality: Early movie influences

Ever since I was a kid, captivated by the Rocky saga and the karate kid film franchise I knew I was hooked on fitness. These early influences lit a fire within me, fueling my initial workouts of push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups in my bedroom. I wanted the muscles I saw on screen, and it seemed that if I did enough push ups, I’d get there.

Finding A Calling: What is a personal trainer?

I achieved enough muscle growth in my late teens and early twenties for it to be obvious that I trained with weights, I was never particularly lean as I really didn’t understand the nutrition element at this stage. In my university days, majoring in psychology at the University of Plymouth. People started coming to me for fitness advice, even people I didn’t know. It felt good to help people,  A light bulb went off: What if this was my calling, was a personal training career a way to combine my three interests, fitness, business and psychology.

The Mind Game: Overcoming Doubts and limiting beliefs

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Early on, someone close to me had told me my body would never be lean & muscular in that way I was aiming for. Those words stayed with me, creating doubt that lingered for years.

How to Think About Fitness – How studying psychology shaped my approach to coaching

My time at university wasn’t just about books and exams; it was an awakening. The field of psychology gave me the keys to unlock the intricate relationship between mind and body. Not directly, because I studied psychology, not sports science. But the gift it gave me was in how to think critically, how to question limitations, norms and the idea that often that there is gold to be found by doing the exact opposite of the status quo.

Hitting the gym floor: Transitioning from academia to the fitness industry

After University I studies for my official qualification in personal training and nutrition, I had stepped out of the academic world and into the fitness industry, which at the time was still finding its feet, and was as much about how you looked as what you knew.

I started working with clients from all different walks of life and with all different goals and starting points, it was fun, I started to learn that coaching when done right, is about being able to adapt to the individual, not just to an their goal and exercise experience, thats all surface level, where I really began to get results was in understanding what motivated my clients, what they feared, and what patterns, thoughts or limiting beliefs were running through their minds, holding

The Art of Transformation: struggles with bulking & cutting cycles

But this journey had its ups and downs. I was nailing it with my clients but struggled personally. Despite the successes, something was amiss. I wasn’t satisfied with my own physique, I could gain enough muscle, but then I’d start to have excess fat, so I would go on long ‘cuts’ and lose a bunch of muscle. Occasionally, at the cross over point, I looked good, even good enough to take a picture. But deep down I knew, I didn’t yet know how to look the way I wanted to look year round, It made me feel inauthentic as a coach, it was a call back to being told there was a ceiling on what I could achieve and was a constant thorn in my side in my early career.

Hollywood or Bust: The high stakes of celebrity fitness coaching

In 2011, I reached a breaking point. I was given the opportunity to work in Hollywood, California for the first time with a celebrity client of mine, let’s be honest working in the parks of London, is one thing if I was carrying a little more fat, I could wear a hoodie, but out in California, I knew I was going to have to look the part.  I issued myself an ultimatum: get to 10% body fat by the start of the trip or leave the industry. The stakes were high, and the clock was ticking. If I was going to be one of the best coaches in the world, which is what I set out to do, I needed to be in control of my physique every day of the year, and I needed to feel at home in one of the most image conscious places on the planet.

Breaking Conventions: The revolutionary move to recomposition

As I felt like I had tried everything, I knew I had to be willing to toss out the old playbook and start anew. Against conventional wisdom, I experimented with unconventional techniques—and they worked. I trained less often, I lifted lighter to gain muscle, and I started walking and sprinting to loose fat, losing everything in the middle, like my daily jog I thought was burning fat. The results were outstanding, I stopped thinking about getting results in terms of how hard i could work, and started operating on the basis of thinking through what signals my workouts were sending to my body. I stopped ‘bulking’ and ‘cutting’ like a bodybuilder and opted for a recomposition approach, where I could do both at the same time. This way every day, whether I gained a little bit of muscle, or dropped a little bit of fat, I looked better almost every day. I never set out to be a bodybuilder, just an athletic-looking guy and I had found the formula, at long last.

a staged photoshoot is not really my style any more
but at the time it was important to prove I could achieve this

Centre Stage: From Armchair fan to fitness advisor on Hollywood Sets

As soon as I felt congruent with what I had achieved, my results started to get noticed and I felt comfortable talking about them, even on TV,  I was asked to write for just about every health & fitness publication, and to this date I’ve written several hundred health & fitness articles, opportunities kept coming and I was able to work on big budget Hollywood film sets, getting cast members ready for their film roles, in screenwriting, this is what they call a ‘circle of being’ moment, I had set out to emulate what I had seen in the movies, now I was behind the scenes helping people prepare their physiques for film roles. I had exceeded all expectations as to what I thought possible from working as a personal trainer.

The cost of success: Navigating burnout as a fully booked personal trainer

But as I’m sure you can relate to, life has a tendency to throw us curve balls when we least expect them. There is a great irony in the world of personal training, which is that the busier and more sought after you become, the more challenging it becomes to stay fit and healthy yourself, 6am, is the most sought after training session, making 4:45 your wake up time, and you pretty much run right through until 10pm. You have to rush meals, there is no time to unwind. I started to feel the effects of burn out and fatigue for the first time, and you have to be careful with wellness, as it starts to slide it gathers momentum and begins to influence sleep, digestion, stress management and compromises libido and immunity. A far cry from peacocking around a gym floor when your searching for your first clients.

Holistic Fitness: The shift from Aesthetics to overall wellness

I began to prioritise wellness over aesthetics, you see the training was in the bag, I knew what worked, but if other lifestyle factors are getting in the way, you simply won’t see the same results from the same workouts because your body will be chemically and hormonally primed to take on body fat, and lose muscle, tiredness and fatigue also massively effect mindset and motivation, so it’s easy to get into a negative cycle and before long feel like you’ve become a shadow of your future self, I know what it’s like, and its a scenario many of my clients find themselves in when they first visit this website.

The Hustle Trap: The double edged sword of modern work culture

I realised when I reflected that I’d been taking my lead from ‘hustle’ culture, like many of my high flying executive and entrepreneurial clients, I’d been wearing my tiredness as a badge of honour. Perhaps It’s a London thing, though it’s also true that my online personal training clients from all over the world report the same, maybe it’s just a modern trap, a product of an age of comparison perpetuated by social media. It doesn’t really matter, what matters is finding a solution.

Redefining Ambition: The birth of a ‘Healthy Ambition’

One day, it dawned on me. Your ambition, shouldn’t cost you your health. Because if it does, you would do anything to trade everything you achieve back for your health n an instant, plus whats the point of wrecking your body, your metabolism and your energy levels to become a success but not no longer be able to do all of your favourite things because of the damage you’ve taken on your journey.

You don't have to live in the gym, efficient workouts free up plenty of time for an active lifestyle - a cycling trip to the ise of Wight.
Being in control of your weight and confident with your Body year round is a freeedom I want you to have too.

Your Journey, shared. My personal commitment to you.

This trend only got worse globally with the pandemic, you see on the surface you would think working from home would be an enjoyable change of dynamic, but I worked with thousands of people one on one online during the last few years and it brought with it inactivity, huge stress, terrible eating habits, a mental health crisis and a complete loss of normal social routinue, not a great combination of factors for your health.

But don’t threat, i’ve combined everything I learned battling these two challenges to help my clients develop what I like to call a ‘healthy ambition’, you’d be suprised how much quicker you get all the usual fat loss and muscle gain results when your body is actually in a place to thrive, but it’s deeper than that, as I’ve alluded to exercise is the easy part. I now set out to help my clients become the type of people who keep showing up for themselves and those they love when it comes to wellness, whether they feel like it or not. Progress, after all is all about consistency.

I can’t say it’ll be easy to change, take a long term view of fitness, cast aside short cuts, quick fixes and invest in your physical and mental health, but what I can say, is that if you’re serious about making a change, now that you’ve found this site you don’t have to do it on your own.

The Mission - Why We Do This

“Our mission is to offer an integrated lifestyle solution that prioritizes your mental and physical well-being while seamlessly blending work, rest, and play.

We pose a critical question to our hard-working clients: What’s the point of all your hard work if it costs you your health? Moreover, why invest your hard-earned money and limited time in fitness programs and diets that deliver mediocre results or expect you to live like an athlete or worse are so unrealistically restrictive they could never be maintained?

Life’s quality hinges on how effectively you manage two resources: time and energy. Our health & fitness solutions aim to never waste either, because we know how prized and scarce they can be with a busy schedule.

Naturally, losing fat, gaining muscle, and improving fitness are part of the package—that’s the cornerstone of what we deliver.

But we aim higher. We envision our clients excelling in every aspect of life. When you’re energized, confident, and eager for each day, the benefits ripple through your work and home life.

Our ultimate aspiration is grand. By helping people reclaim their time, energy, and confidence, we hope to contribute to the world’s inspiration pool. It’s like having a small stake in countless transformative ideas—any one of which might change the world.”
